Privacy Policy

Your data is yours. Mealbrew exists to help you plan meals and understand your body better — not to monetize your information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

What we collect

When you use Mealbrew, we store the data you provide directly:

Account information — your name, email address, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).
Meal data — meals you create, categories, routines, and daily schedules.
Glucose readings — if you choose to use the glucose tracking features.
App settings — your preferences for theme, units, accessibility, and other configurations.

We may also collect limited technical data automatically:

Anonymous usage analytics — feature usage counts, never meal content or health values. You can turn this off in Settings.
Crash reports — stack traces when something breaks, to help us fix bugs. Never includes health data. Also toggleable in Settings.

How we use your data

Your data is used to:

Provide and run the service — storing your meals, syncing across devices, rendering your schedule.
Improve the app — understanding which features get used, fixing bugs, and making the experience better.

AI and prediction models

Here's the honest part: your data may be used to train internal AI prediction models. This includes features like the predicted glucose curve, meal suggestions, and auto-planning from history.

What this means in practice:

Training data is anonymized and aggregated — we strip identifiers before it touches any model.
Models are internal only — they exist to make Mealbrew smarter for you, not for sale to anyone.
The goal is your benefit — better predictions, better suggestions, a more useful app.
We do not sell, license, or share your data (raw or processed) with third parties for their own AI training.

What we never do

Sell your data to third parties. Ever.
Share your health data with advertisers, insurance companies, or data brokers.
Use your data for targeted advertising — Mealbrew has no ads.
Store your password in plain text.

Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls, and secure infrastructure. We treat your meal and health data with the seriousness it deserves.

That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. If a breach ever occurs, we'll notify affected users promptly and transparently, because that's the right thing to do.

Your rights

You have full control over your data:

Export — download everything Mealbrew stores about you as JSON, anytime, from Settings.
Delete — delete your account and all associated data from your Profile page. This is permanent and irreversible.
Opt out of analytics — toggle anonymous usage analytics and crash reports off in Settings.

Cookies

Mealbrew uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We don't use tracking cookies, third-party analytics cookies, or advertising pixels. That's it — no banner needed.

Children

Mealbrew is not intended for children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top and do our best to notify you within the app. For significant changes, we'll make it obvious.
